Before the treatment, the treatment area will be thoroughly cleansed, and the patient’s eyes will be safeguarded with protective shields. While discomfort levels may vary depending on individual sensitivity and treatment depth, most patients experience minimal discomfort. 

A forced air cooling device and numbing cream will be utilized to enhance patient comfort during the procedure. For more aggressive treatments, pain medication may be necessary.

The technician will carefully position the laser handpiece above the skin, maintaining its position as the computer-guided scanner directs the laser beam across the treatment area. This process involves the accurate removal of small skin columns at a depth determined by the technician, which may result in pinpoint bleeding. 

Patients typically describe a mild stinging sensation, akin to the snapping of a rubber band, in the treated areas. However, the majority of individuals find this sensation quite tolerable. The total time spent in the office will depend on the treatment area and the patient’s response to the procedure.

Results

Following your treatment, it is essential to protect your skin as per our instructions for the initial 24 hours. After this period, you should be able to resume your normal activities. Social downtime may vary among patients. Many individuals can go out in public using a bit of concealer on the first day post-treatment. The peeling of MENDs (microscopic epidermal necrotic debris), which creates a bronzing effect, typically occurs between day 2.5 and day 3.

Does a Halo Treatment hurt?

A Halo treatment is generally well-tolerated by most patients, thanks to the use of a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology. During the treatment, patients typically describe a sensation of heat accompanied by occasional prickling feelings. 

However, they are generally comfortable throughout the procedure. Post-treatment, patients may experience a sunburn-like sensation for approximately 2 hours and a similar appearance for a few days. Some pinpoint bleeding may occur, depending on the intensity of the Halo treatment.
